Outreach

Volunteer Development

MaSA believes volunteers are indispensable to the effective operation of an animal shelter. Our team can aid with developing a volunteer program and training a volunteer base to assist an organization with daily animal care and agency mission needs. MaSA can also aid with the development and training of a volunteer disaster response team to support local emergency animal sheltering operations during natural or man-made disasters.

Media Management

MaSA offers training in media management, to include utilizing social media venues to promote placing community compatible animals in new forever homes or with responsible animal rescue organizations. MaSA resources are available to provide samples of media management policies and procedures, examples of press releases, and more.

Adult Education

MaSA offers educational materials, such as trifold brochures and handouts, on a variety of topics. Common brochures and handout subjects include the benefits of spay and neutering pets, responsible pet ownership, avoiding animal abuse, rabies, disaster preparedness, and more. Additionally, local governments may submit their animal control ordinances to MaSA for development of jurisdiction-specific adult animal care and control literature. Fees for design and production vary depending on the topic, complexity of design and number of brochures or handouts produced. Contact MaSA to discuss details and obtain a quote.

Youth Education

MaSA offers educational materials for youth education programs, such as age specific activity books, stories and bite prevention. From Pre-K to high school ages, these programs can be used by animal care and control professionals to conduct presentations for schools, churches or youth groups. The Officer Lindy Project is also available (see the Officer Lindy Project tab) for teachers, counselors or youth program leaders to provide youth education on such topics as responsible pet ownership, animal bite prevention, and basic animal knowledge.
